What does connecting Paddle to Traceten give you?
Every completed Paddle transaction, renewals included, is credited to the AI assistant that sent the buyer, once you pass the visitor id through checkout. You paste an API key and your Seller ID. Traceten creates the notification destination, imports 90 days of transactions and subtracts approved refunds.

How do you connect Paddle?

Create an API key
In Paddle, create a live API key with transaction.read and notification_setting.write, and note your Seller ID.

Paste both into Traceten
In Settings, then Integrations, pick the site your checkout runs on, choose Paddle and paste the key and Seller ID.

Pass the visitor id at checkout
Set traceten_visitor_id in the checkout's customData. Paddle sends no buyer email, so this is the only match.
Questions
01Why must I pass the visitor id to Paddle checkout?
Paddle is the merchant of record and its transaction webhooks carry no buyer email, so checkout custom data is the only signal. Without traceten_visitor_id, the revenue is recorded as unattributed.
02Does Traceten record gross or net Paddle revenue?
Gross: the tax-inclusive total the customer was charged, which matches what a Stripe charge records. Paddle's net earnings are often empty when the webhook arrives.
03When does a Paddle refund change my numbers?
When the refund adjustment reaches approved. A pending refund leaves revenue alone, and credits and chargebacks are ignored.
04Can I connect a Paddle sandbox key?
No. Production accepts live keys only, so sandbox amounts never reach your revenue totals.
