What does connecting Stripe to Traceten give you?
Every paid Stripe checkout and invoice is credited to the AI assistant that sent the buyer, so you see revenue from ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and the rest. You paste a restricted key, Traceten creates the webhook for you, imports the last 90 days, and subtracts refunds from the source that earned them.

How do you connect Stripe?

Create a restricted key
In Stripe, create a restricted key with Webhook Endpoints set to Write and read access to the resources the guide lists.

Paste it into Traceten
Open Settings, then Integrations, pick the site your checkout runs on, choose Stripe and paste the key.

Pass the visitor id at checkout
Set client_reference_id to the visitor id when you create a Checkout Session, and call identify() so renewals match too.
Questions
01Does Traceten need my Stripe secret key?
No. It accepts only a live restricted key and refuses secret, publishable and test-mode keys. The key is stored encrypted, and only its last four characters are shown again.
02Are Stripe subscription renewals attributed?
Yes. Stripe bills a renewal as an invoice, and Traceten credits it to the AI source that won the customer. Call identify() with the email the customer pays with so renewals keep matching.
03How are Stripe refunds handled?
A refund is subtracted from the source that earned the charge, dated the day it was issued. Conversion counts stay gross, and cancelling a subscription changes no figure.
04Can I attribute Stripe Payment Links without writing code?
Yes. Set the Payment Link's redirect to a page on your site with ?session_id={CHECKOUT_SESSION_ID}, and the snippet on that page reports the purchase.
